Indivisible Naperville’s Candidate Expo event in April was a big success. We started with a group of local high school students updating us on their gun-control efforts, then heard from all the candidates who were present. They introduced themselves or sent representatives to update us on their campaigns. Members of the audience then had time to meet the candidates and sign up to volunteer on their campaigns.
We had candidates from DuPage and Will County Boards as well as a judge for the DuPage County Circuit Court, candidates for the Illinois House and Senate, and representatives from Sean Casten’s campaign for IL06 and Lauren Underwood’s campaign for IL14. Both candidates were in Washington, D.C.
Our next meeting is on May 23rd when we welcome Bob Moriarty to educate us on Deep Canvassing. Afterwards, we will break up into small groups to practice our new-found skills so we have the tools we will need to converse with voters from any party on topics important to our democracy over the summer.
Our book for the month was Fire and Fury by Michael Wolf.
